Update - Tuesday 24th March @ 8:45pm

BESA Families,

As promised I am updating everybody on a couple of virtual meetings that have taken place this week. First up was a meeting of all Northern Mid-Cities Associations (15) on Sunday to discuss the Spring Season. Last night your BESA Executive Committee met to discuss the decisions from the meeting on Sunday.

As of Sunday it was decided to try and finish out the Spring 2020 Season as most teams have the desire to do so. All 15 Associations were in agreement to see the season through. It was agreed as long as the restrictions are withdrawn NMCSL will go back to playing on Saturday 2nd May, BESA will start up again on Sunday 3rd May. The City of Euless have given us permission to play at the Texas Star Soccer Complex and McGrady through the end of July if needed. At this time we plan to play through the end of June as long as no further disruptions get in the way. Also at this time for our 4U - 8U teams Soccerfest is still planned to go ahead on Saturday 9th May and will now be used to kick-off the remainder of the Spring Season.

This is all pending further discussions with both the City of Euless and Bedford and if the suspension of activities are lifted by Saturday 2nd May. If anything changes between now and the 2nd May we will be back in touch with our membership. For now the highlighted information below is still in effect for both cities we play and practice in.

City of Euless - All practices & games are suspended through Saturday, May 2nd.

City of Bedford - All practices & games are suspended indefinitely.

This includes all activities at MCYAC facilities, Parks, Indoor and Outdoor facilities within both Cities.

We believe this proactive step will help to mitigate the potential risk and effects of this virus on our community. Please let us know if you have any questions. We will update you with any further changes via email, our web site, and social media accounts.

Thank you,

BESA Board

Coronavirus Update

BESA is continually monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and are committed to following the CDC recommendations to help in the prevention of the spread of the virus.

We recommend everyone follow the protocols and best practices set forth by the CDC. All soccer activity may go on as scheduled; however, we encourage you to take additional precautions, such as elimination of shared water bottles, coolers and drinks. And although it is a great way to show good sportsmanship, we would ask that teams do not shake hands upon completion of games instead we ask that players approach the spectator sideline and do an above the head “hand clap”, similar to what professional players do post game.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support during this period. Please pay close attention to the list below from the CDC for illness prevention best practices:

·Stay home when you are sick.

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

·Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

·Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

·Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

·         Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.

  • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus. Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
